Testing Requirement for On-Campus Housing
This message was sent to students living on campus:
This afternoon, on Friday, August 14, 2020, the Humboldt County Health Officer informed Cal Poly Humboldt of its expectation that every student who will be living on campus this term be tested for COVID-19 upon their arrival to the campus (and periodically thereafter).
In light of recent surges of COVID-19 infections throughout the State, including Humboldt County, Cal Poly Humboldt has agreed to require testing of all on-campus residents. Therefore, upon your arrival on campus, you will be tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible (at no cost to you). This is in addition to the testing already available to students via the Campus Health Center.
On-campus residents may also be subject to periodic follow-up COVID-19 tests thereafter. We recognize that this new testing requirement was not explicitly described in our recent correspondence regarding your Humboldt Social Responsibility Commitment. Nevertheless, under the current circumstances, testing will be required for all on-campus residents upon their arrival to campus. Additional measures may be warranted throughout the term depending on how the pandemic evolves.
Any student who declines testing upon arrival will be placed in quarantine housing. Students who do not stay on campus will be refunded the full cost of housing for this term and will need to make alternative housing arrangements. Our Off-Campus Housing Liaison will be prepared to assist as needed.
