Masks Outdoors Optional, Dine-in Returns to Campus Eateries, Events, and Athletics

February 11, 2022 - 2:19pm

Beginning Feb. 16, wearing masks outdoors on campus will be optional. Masks are still required indoors, except while eating or drinking in designated areas.

The moratorium on food and beverages at events and athletic games will be lifted on Feb. 16. On-campus dining areas have returned to normal dine-in services.

Cal Poly Humboldt is paying close attention to the progress of COVID-19 on campus and in our community. As a result, our masking practices will continue to be reviewed regularly.

Here’s what you need to know about masks:

  • Face masks are mandatory, regardless of vaccination status, inside all campus facilities except for certain private spaces and designated eating areas*

  • Masks must be worn in cars or buses for University activities

  • N95 masks are recommended indoors, but NOT required

  • Neck gaiters, which are often made of thin material, must have at least two layers.

  • Cloth face masks must have at least two layers of cotton

  • Fitted masks are required, neck gaiters and bandanas are not effective

  • After use, face coverings must be laundered or disposed of

*While indoors, face masks are required anytime you are not in your own private workspace with a way to manage the entry of others, such as with a closed door. If this is a space someone else may need to enter, such as a lab or other operational space, you must wear a mask even when no one is present.
