Information about the Spring Semester

November 2, 2020 - 9:09am

Humboldt State University’s Spring semester will be similar to Fall as far as plans for instruction, flexible repopulation of campus, and student experience. The first two weeks of the semester and the two weeks following Spring Break will be virtual to allow for quarantine. There will be some face-to-face classes and campus operations will continue to be mostly virtual.

At this time, in-person events on campus aren’t allowed and the campus remains closed to the general public.

The Spring academic schedule is as follows:

  • Jan. 19 - Jan. 29: virtual instruction only

  • Feb. 1 - March 12: face-to-face instruction

  • March 15 - March 19: Spring break

  • March 22 - April 2: virtual courses

  • April 5 - May 7: face-to-face instruction

  • May 10 - May 14: final exams

Face-to-face courses for the Spring semester can be viewed here.

Students living on campus who plan to return in January are not required to stay in housing after Nov. 6 and may leave their belongings until the start of the Spring semester. Or they may choose to stay in Housing straight through to the start of Spring semester. Students who decide to move out before December 11 must submit the Request to Vacate form on their myHousing portal and check out at the Housing front desk.

The University is consulting with Humboldt County Public Health on repopulation and testing plans for the start of the Spring semester and Spring break. Additional information will be provided once planning efforts are finalized.

The Campus Community—students, staff, and faculty—has collaborated closely and had a successful and safe semester so far. Through rigorous testing, adherence to safety protocols, and a full campus response to COVID-19, there have been relatively few cases in the campus community.

Please continue to adhere to the Social Responsibility Commitment.
