Face Coverings Recommended

April 7, 2020 - 3:20pm

In accordance with Humboldt County Public Health, effective immediately, all students who are on campus conducting essential functions (such as visiting the Health Center, doing laundry, or obtaining food or other campus services) should wear a face covering while in public.

Staff and faculty working or conducting essential functions are also encouraged to wear a face covering.

The covering should cover both your nose and mouth and does not have to be a surgical mask. Each covering should be used only once and then laundered, and taken off using the straps, to prevent cross-contamination from your hands to the covering and/or your face.

Surgical and N95 masks are in very short supply and should be reserved for health care workers and medical professionals.

If wearing a face covering while at work would create a safety hazard, please speak directly with your supervisor to discuss accommodation. This guidance does not apply to employees requiring the use of other specific face coverings for their job type.

Please continue to follow the county’s shelter in place mandate. The best precautions against COVID-19 are still practicing good hand hygiene, keeping all surfaces disinfected, staying at home, and modeling social distancing when doing essential tasks away from home.
