Enjoy Labor Day Safely

September 4, 2020 - 2:33pm

With two weeks of the semester under your belt, you might be making plans ahead of the long holiday weekend. As tempting as it may be to plan a trip, a backyard barbeque, or a beach bonfire with friends, it’s critical to remember this will not be a typical Labor Day weekend.

Please protect yourself and take steps to protect your friends, your family, and the community, whether that’s on campus, on the North Coast, or in your hometown. Preventing the spread of illness is imperative, especially now as some students and instructors prepare for face-to-face courses to begin on Tuesday.

General Public Health Guidelines On- and Off- Campus

  • Social Responsibility Commitment: As a member of the campus community, you are expected to follow the commitment. It’s a promise to protect yourself and others on campus and in the North Coast community.

  • Physical Distance: Stay 6 feet apart from each other whenever possible.

  • Face Coverings: Wear a face covering at all times indoors on campus, and outdoors anytime you cannot maintain a 6 foot distance from others. This is required by Humboldt County Public Health when you’re off campus as well.

  • Traveling: Traveling outside of Humboldt County is highly discouraged. If you do, you are required to quarantine for 14 days before returning to campus.

  • Public and Private Gatherings: Humboldt County Public Health discourages gatherings of people who do not live in the same household. Doing so will be considered a violation of HSU’s Student Code of Conduct.

Have a safe holiday weekend, Lumberjacks!
