Campus COVID-19 Planning and Preparations

As Humboldt last communicated on February 26, the University is taking several measures to help protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of our campus community as the coronavirus (COVID-19) spreads globally. Humboldt has:

  • Launched a website (, where you can find updates, and links to health recommendations, travel advisories and other related information.
  • Activated Humboldt’s Emergency Operations Center, a group of trained staff who plan, prepare, and respond to unexpected events that may disrupt daily campus operations.
  • Organized the Pandemic Planning Committee. To help plan for the continuity of classes and daily operations, this group of campus stakeholders is discussing academic, personnel, and operational policies and procedures.
  • Launched an educational campaign to raise awareness of proper handwashing and other ways to reduce your risk of infecting yourself and others.
  • Continued to work with state, county, and CSU officials to coordinate a response to the potential outbreak.

Information on the coronavirus changes quickly and can feel alarming. While public awareness is crucial, health experts recommend taking basic steps to protect yourself and to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus or other illnesses.

As we prepare for this virus and its impact, it’s important to have compassion for ourselves and others.
