August 7 Campus Ready Update

August 7, 2020 - 9:48am

To keep the campus community informed, Humboldt State University will regularly send this e-newsletter with recent updates about HSU’s Fall semester, plus highlights of important current or new guidelines.

Social Responsibility

As a community, we have a responsibility to ourselves, the campus community, and local residents. Here is how you can help prevent the spread of COVID-19:

1) Wear a face covering, practice social distancing, and wash hands frequently

2) Do a daily “Wellness Self-Check” before you come to campus

Face Coverings and Social Distancing

Face coverings and social distancing are two important tools to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Both are mandatory and HSU has developed guidelines on how wear and wash face coverings and practice social distancingRead more about our responsibility to follow these guidelines on- and off-campus.

Fall Instruction Dates

Virtual fall instruction begins Monday, Aug. 24 and final exams take place Dec. 14-18.

Face-to-face components of instruction will begin Tuesday, Sept. 8 to give students ample time to quarantine before returning to on-campus spaces. Face-to-face instruction will end Friday, Nov. 6, prior to Fall Break, and all classes will return to virtual instruction.

Keys and Building Access

Only people on the Fall 2020 essential personnel list will be given key access to buildings to keep campus density low and to reduce the spread of COVID-19. All new key holders, including those whose access has recently expired, must be included in the HSU Fall 2020 essential personnel list. Essential personnel must be approved through the HSU Environmental Health & Safety process for on-campus students/faculty/staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn more on the Campus Ready website.

It’s the responsibility of every keyholder not to let anyone without building access to enter a closed building. Exterior doors should never be propped open.

Fall 2020 New Employee Sign-up Process

The process of hiring new employees for Fall 2020 has been streamlined. All new student, staff, and faculty employee sign-up forms have been digitized and will be sent via Adobe Sign. The new sign-up packets are available now on the HRAPS website on the Onboarding & Offboarding Home page.

When Human Resources receives the completed packet, HR will determine if an I-9 form is required. If so, the I-9 form will be sent to your employee. When the I-9 is completed, HR will set-up a Zoom meeting with the new employee to virtually verify the supporting documents.
