Building Hours & Access

This will include building open hours, key access, reference to essential personnel and date range for access.

December 17, 2020

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Building access will be greatly reduced for the fall semester
  • Buildings that will allow face-to-face instruction will only be open Sept. 8-Nov. 6, the duration of face-to-face classes
  • Building open hours are listed below but are subject to change
  • Follow all building signage and be aware of new barriers and other measures to promote social distancing
  • It’s everyone’s responsibility to make sure buildings are only accessible to those who need it

Keys & Building Access

To keep campus population density low and reduce the spread of COVID-19, many buildings on campus will be fully or partially closed during this semester. The campus remains closed to the general public.

Buildings necessary for face-to-face instruction will only be open Sept. 8 – Nov. 6, the duration of face-to-face classes. They will otherwise be closed to anyone but essential personnel.

Building hours and other information will be posted on entrances, and is available below, though it is subject to change. Please be aware of physical changes in buildings, such as barriers to ensure social distancing, and follow all building signage pertaining to use of space, one-way traffic, and health and sanitation etiquette.

Keys

To request a new or renewed key or keycard, department key approvers/requesters must submit a key request through the Facilities Management Key & Keycard Request Webform. Every effort is being made to keep campus density low and to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

It is strongly advised that if student, faculty, or staff key-holders intend to use their keys during the Fall 2020 semester to access closed buildings, they should be included in the Fall 2020 essential personnel list. Essential personnel must be approved through the HSU Environmental Health & Safety process for on-campus students/faculty/staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn more in the Return to Work guide.

It’s the responsibility of every keyholder not to let anyone without building access to enter a closed building. Exterior doors should never be propped open.

Building Sanitation

Building sanitation plans have been built to support the building use listed in the HSU Fall 2020 Essential Personnel List. All on-campus activities must be approved by the department, college and division via this Essential Personnel List. Such activities, once approved, will be considered in the creation of and adherence to a building-level sanitation plan. Building-level sanitation plans are described below.
