Humboldt State University is monitoring the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and closely working with, and following stringent guidelines from, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), State of California, and Humboldt County health agencies.

  • The California State University system has approved Humboldt State University offering limited face-to-face courses this fall.
  • HSU is operating virtually. 
  • HSU’s plans are aligned with the Humboldt County 'Shelter in Place' order. All access to campus facilities is closed to the general public.

Humboldt State will maintain limited student services as the summer break gets underway. Please note the open times and availability below. Campus remains closed to the public.

 

Dining Services:

  • Campus Marketplace will be open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday, and will be closed weekends.

  • All other dining services are closed.

Humboldt State University has successfully allocated millions in emergency funds to 5,200 HSU students through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. CARES is a new law meant to help individuals and businesses, including colleges and universities, cover emergency expenses related to COVID-19.

The HSU community has rallied and supported one another during the challenges of recent months. Now, as we head into the summer break, it is important to continue with that and also to be aware of the disparate impact of the pandemic, which has amplified a number of equity issues and raised concerns about bias faced by people of color and people with other marginalized identities and their intersections.

Humboldt State University’s athletics conference - the California Collegiate Athletic Association - has suspended Fall sports competition. The announcement follows CSU Chancellor’s White’s announcement that the vast majority of courses at CSU campuses will be virtual for the Fall semester as part of the ongoing response to COVID-19.

Humboldt State University is committed to assisting as many students as possible through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, a new law meant to help individuals and businesses, including colleges and universities, cover emergency expenses related to COVID-19.

Under the CARES Act, the University will allocate $5,151,499 to the following groups of currently enrolled students, who will receive the full amount, even if there are any outstanding charges on their HSU account:

 COVID-19 Update: Travel Suspension Extended

Face coverings must be worn by anyone who enters an indoor facility other than their residence, or while outdoors when the person is unable to maintain a six-foot distance from another person at all times, beginning Friday, April 24, per the most recent Humboldt County Public Health Order.

This applies to anyone making essential trips on the HSU campus. Please note a statewide shelter in place order is still in effect. View the county order here (pdf)

Due to the uncertainty surrounding the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, Humboldt State University has decided to cancel all in-person programs and events that were scheduled to take place over the summer through August 14, based on continued guidance from the CSU Chancellor’s Office and state and local officials. These activities include but is not limited to:

  • Summer conferences, festivals, and workshops

  • Camps and Clinics
