Humboldt State University is monitoring the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and closely working with, and following stringent guidelines from, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), State of California, and Humboldt County health agencies.

Humboldt State University has suspended all University-sponsored international travel and non-essential domestic travel for the remainder of the Spring semester, consistent with CSU guidelines intended to reduce the spread of COVID-19. “Domestic travel” is travel outside Humboldt County within the United States.
This decision is effective immediately and continues through May 31, 2020. It applies to all areas of the University including auxiliary organizations.

I write to update you about campus planning related to COVID-19 and to reassure you that Humboldt State University is taking appropriate steps on behalf of our campus community.
As of today, there has not been community transmission of COVID-19 in Humboldt County. We have had no cases on campus.

With the impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) continuing to spread as more cases are identified throughout California, the California State University Office of the Chancellor has provided additional guidance to its 23 campuses. To date, there have been no confirmed cases of the coronavirus on any CSU campuses.

Dear Campus Community,
Last week, health officials confirmed that a Humboldt County resident contracted the respiratory illness known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), which originated in Wuhan, China.
The individual is doing well and self-isolating at home and officials have been reaching out to those who may have been in contact with the person. Health officials say the risk of contracting COVID-19 remains low for the community.
NOTE: The following is information sent from the California State University Chancellor’s Office. There have been no reported coronavirus cases at Humboldt State University, and there are no HSU students, faculty, or staff studying or working in China. There are also no planned study abroad or recruitment trips to China.
Please be aware that the State Department has raised the threat level for travel to China to level 4. Effective immediately, travel to the entire country of China is not authorized.
As of January 26, there have been five confirmed cases of novel corona virus infection in the United States, including 2 confirmed cases in Southern California involving recent travelers to Wuhan City, China. Given this news, you are encouraged to read this message in total.
