Campus Updates

Aug 18 2020 - 4:30pm

Humboldt State University has learned that a staff member has recently had a positive test for COVID-19. The employee was not tested on campus and the case is not related to HSU’s recent move-in day.

HSU is working closely with Humboldt County Public Health in responding to information about this test result.

Aug 17 2020 - 4:36pm

Based on the results of ongoing testing on campus, public health officials have confirmed a case of COVID-19 that has affected a member of the Humboldt State University community. This is the first confirmed case connected to the campus.

The individual who tested positive is a student who recently moved into campus housing.

The following message was sent to the College Deans today.

Dear Deans:

As we get closer to the beginning of the Fall 2020 semester, we need to tie-up loose ends to support our Face to Face (F2F) offerings. To this end, our campus partners from Facilities Management and Environmental Health and Safety need additional information in order to comply with necessary protocols required by public health. Please start working with your Department Chairs to provide the necessary information. Below are details of what is being requested:

Social Responsibility

As a community, we have a responsibility to ourselves, the campus community, and local residents. Here is how you can help prevent the spread of COVID-19:

Aug 4 2020 - 11:38am

Face coverings and social distancing are some of the most important ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and both are required on campus in most circumstances.

When you are on campus you’re expected to stay at least six feet from other people whenever possible. Do not gather in groups and stay away from crowds, and make sure to follow all instructions that will be posted on campus signs.

As members of the Humboldt State University community, all students, faculty, and staff will commit to protect others and themselves during the pandemic. For those of us with a physical need to be on campus in a few short weeks, there are important considerations and actions we must adhere to in order to keep our fall plan in place.
