Based on new guidelines from the State of California, all CSU employees 65 and older or with underlying health issues that make them more vulnerable to COVID-19 must not come to campus and are advised to practice self-isolation. 

This new guidance is effective immediately. California’s governor asked today that individuals in these categories self-isolate.

Cal Poly Humboldt is aware of recent K-12 school closures in our region in response to COVID-19, and we are closely following discussions about the possibility of other school closures. Similar decisions are being made throughout California and around the country.

  • All non-essential Humboldt events of all sizes are cancelled on and off campus.

  • Organizers are encouraged to cancel meetings, or convert them to teleconference, if possible.

  • Practice social distancing at all times.

  • Humboldt remains open for operations.

  • All classes are cancelled on March 23-25.

  • Classes will be taught in alternative modes starting March 26 to April 17.

  • The campus will remain open and all student services will be available.

  • Intercollegiate and Club spring sports are cancelled, including all competition, practices, and student-athlete recruitment.

  • Humboldt made this decision along with all other schools in the CCAA.

  • Recreation and Intramural Sports are not affected at this time.

Cal Poly Humboldt Department of Athletics continues to work diligently with Humboldt campus leaders to observe and take action on the evolving coronavirus (COVID-19).  Out of an abundance and caution and based decisions made by campus leaders, attendance at all Humboldt Athletics home events will be limited to essential personnel only from Saturday, March 14 until Friday, April 17.

Cal Poly Humboldt acknowledges its important role in the North Coast in bringing thought-leaders, visitors, artists, musicians, and entertainers to campus and the local community. In an effort to mitigate the possible spread of COVID-19, Humboldt continues to assess the impact of hosting large events on campus.

There is no one response that works for all events. Humboldt understands that each event is different.

Cal Poly Humboldt is working to maintain as much flexibility as possible for current and upcoming job searches, while also mitigating for possible impacts related to COVID-19. It is important that the University provide a consistent and fair experience for all applicants.

  • Please consider staying in Humboldt during Spring Break.
  • If you leave during Spring Break, plan carefully about where you travel.
  • After Spring Break, classes, assignments, and exams are cancelled on March 23-24.
