In accordance with Humboldt County Public Health, effective immediately, all students who are on campus conducting essential functions (such as visiting the Health Center, doing laundry, or obtaining food or other campus services) should wear a face covering while in public.
Staff and faculty working or conducting essential functions are also encouraged to wear a face covering.
The CSU Chancellor’s Office has enacted the emergency pay provisions in the California State University Employees Union (Units 2, 5, 7 and 9), International Union of Operating Engineers (Unit 10) and Teamsters 2010 (Unit 6) collective bargaining agreements (CBA). Generally, emergency pay is additional pay for employees who work outside the scope of their normal duties when campus is closed due to an emergency situation.
Under the new provisions, most state-side employees, including student employees, shall be eligible to receive a one-time allotment of up to 256 hours of paid administrative leave that can be used for COVID-19-related absences, subject to the following conditions:
All hours must be used by close of business on December 31, 2020 at which time the remaining allotted hours will expire;

Cal Poly Humboldt has received reports from faculty members that their classes have been subject to “Zoom-bombing,” where people not associated with the University interrupt Zoom conference calls and other virtual class gatherings.
To reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, Siemens Hall computer labs and the University Center will close today at 5 p.m.
Those spaces had remained open to provide students with access to computers and internet so they could continue with classes. As of today, other solutions have been identified:
Rural students have been assisted with an arrangement with a cable provider for internet.
All students who indicated they needed a laptop have one or one on the way.
Travel to areas with community level transmission of COVID-19 increases the risk of exposure and transmission to our campus and local community.

Welcome back to instruction! We want students to be relieved from undue concern about grades as we all adjust to alternative modes of teaching and learning. We are doing everything we can to help them to keep learning. And we want them to feel confident in doing so. To lessen student anxiety, the deadline to change grade mode (LTR to CR/NC, or CR/NC to LTR) has been extended to 11:59 p.m., Friday, May 8.
