As you know, last spring HSU offered flexibility regarding grading. Given that we are still dealing with the effects of the pandemic, the campus is extending the flexibility and these include:

Oct 16 2020 - 2:07pm

The Campus Community--students, staff, and faculty--has collaborated closely and had a successful and safe semester so far. Through rigorous testing, adherence to safety protocols, and a full campus response to COVID-19, there are currently no active cases in the campus community.

But that doesn’t mean the University can let down its guard. Please continue to adhere to the Social Responsibility Commitment.

Campus Ready Update

To keep the campus community informed, Humboldt State University will regularly send this e-newsletter with recent updates about HSU’s Fall semester, Spring semester, plus highlights of important current or new guidelines.

Sep 10 2020 - 4:45pm

Based on new guidance provided today by the California State University system, Humboldt State University will continue offering most courses in a virtual format for Spring 2021.

Sep 4 2020 - 2:33pm

With two weeks of the semester under your belt, you might be making plans ahead of the long holiday weekend. As tempting as it may be to plan a trip, a backyard barbeque, or a beach bonfire with friends, it’s critical to remember this will not be a typical Labor Day weekend.

Aug 30 2020 - 4:13pm

Two HSU students who live off-campus tested positive for COVID-19. The students chose to be tested at the Student Health Center and are self-isolating off-campus.

Overall, eight students have tested positive. Six are campus residents, two of whom have been released from isolation by Humboldt County Public Health. A University employee who was affected by COVID-19 has also been released from isolation by County Public Health.

Aug 27 2020 - 11:49am

Each day before coming to campus, everyone, including students, is required to do a wellness self-check. Taking your own temperature is highly recommended, though not yet mandatory, unless required by your position or activity on campus. The CDC considers any temperature over 100.4 F to be indicative of illness.

Aug 26 2020 - 5:51pm

Humboldt State has conducted tests on all student residents, and second round testing is well underway. One additional non-resident student has tested positive since Saturday after choosing to be tested at the Student Health Center. That case was not related to residence hall move-in. Another has been cleared by Humboldt County Public Health.

Aug 24 2020 - 4:53pm

No Humboldt State students tested positive today as testing of all on-campus residents continues.

A total of five student residents have tested positive. They had not shown symptoms or felt ill prior to moving into the residence halls. Humboldt State has administered approximately 600 tests, and County Public Health officials have shared with HSU that approximately 600 test results have been completed. The positive rate of those results is approximately 0.83 percent, compared to a county rate of 1.68 percent and the state rate of 5.6 percent.
