Humboldt State University is now focused on administering second-round doses of COVID-19 vaccines due to limited vaccine supplies and time constraints.

Humboldt County Public Health was unable to provide an additional (first dose) allotment of vaccines to Humboldt State University this week, in part due to the state’s changing vaccine allotment strategy.

As the second round of COVID-19 vaccinations continues on campus, Humboldt State University would like to remind the campus community about the process of vaccinations and appointments. 

  • You will receive the same vaccine brand as your first dose.

Vaccinations for Employees

After careful planning with Humboldt County Public Health, Humboldt State University has been administering COVID-19 vaccines to employees. Student employees, including those working for auxiliaries and Dining, have also been eligible to receive the vaccine.

After careful planning with County Public Health, Humboldt State University has been administering COVID-19 vaccines to employees. Student employees, including those working for auxiliaries and Dining, have also been eligible to receive the vaccine.

As of March 15, HSU has vaccinated 811 employees.

Humboldt State University has announced allocations of the $12 million in funding from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF). Since the initial campus call for feedback, HSU received an additional $1 million in federal Minority-Serving Institution funding, increasing the total second round funding allocations from $11 million to $12 million. 

As a reminder, this is on top of the $5 million in funding being directly allocated to students via emergency aid, of which over $4.5 million has already been distributed.

Commencement is a special day recognizing milestone achievements, and Humboldt State is working diligently to finalize plans for some kind of regional in-person celebrations throughout the state. More information about dates and locations will be shared in the next few weeks.

After careful planning for the last several weeks with County Public Health, Humboldt State University began administering COVID-19 vaccines to employees on campus this week, prioritizing staff and faculty who have been approved to work on campus and have a higher risk of exposure, such as Housing, Dining, Custodial Services, and Children’s Center. Student employees, including those working for auxiliaries and dining, will also be eligible to receive the vaccine.

All stateside California State University employees who work on campus (includes student employees, and retired annuitants) are now eligible for exclusion pay. 

Exclusion Pay is pay continuation for employees who are able and available to work but are being excluded from work due to exposure to COVID-19 at the work site and must quarantine, as prescribed by the California Department of Public Health.
